colewriting: Writer Review: John Blandly
John Blandly is a novelist, artist, actor, recovering filmmaker, and poet who was nominated for an Eppie award in 2008. John’s previous novels have pushed the edge of genres and ranged from mystery stories in the Young Adult genre, to paranormal romance stories. His work has been described as Kafka-esque at times, and always as poetic and enthralling. John’s most recent work of poetry is called, New and Easy Poems to Promote Your Health and Safety. It was this collection that earned John an Eppie nomination in 2008. Eppies, now called EPIC e-book awards, are given annually to the best writing in various genres for books that are delivered in new electronic media formats. John’s poems in this collection highlight his humorous take on life, and as the title promises, “…promote your health and safety.” Now that is a great deal when poetry can deliver on something like that.
In addition to John’s book of poetry, he has also penned five novellas and novelettes that are available on www.SmashWords.com for downloading in a variety of forms. These books include, World Trade Center Writers, Urban Myths and Ghost Stories, Pauline and Melissa, and The Volunteers. The Volunteers, a Young Adult book previously published by Words of Wisdom in a traditional format, is about to be re-issued for Kindle, MobiPocket, and FictionWise e-book readers.
