colewriting: New Freelance Story in Print and Online
Last week I had a fantastic time writing a freelance story for New Jersey’s, Sea Isle Times magazine. While the hardcopy of the magazine is available in Southern New Jersey, you can take a look at the online version of my story here. The story details endurance swimmer Bruckner Chase’s history making swim from Santa Cruz, California to Monterey, California, a 25 mile swim made even more difficult by having to swim through clouds of stinging jellyfish. Bruckner is only the second person ever to make that swim, the first being 27 years ago. Several people have made the attempt but failed.
Bruckner is one tough hombre, and although he had to don a wetsuit part way through the swim because of multiple jellyfish stings, the feat was impressive nonetheless. Being on the beach in Santa Cruz at 4:00 a.m. when he started, and then down in Monterey at 6:00 p.m. when he finished, really brought home how much people are capable of accomplishing if only they are willing to push their limits.
The photographs at the top of the page are by me as well.
