My name is Rocky Cole, and after a career as an intelligence officer I created ColeWriting.com to follow my passion for writing full-time. My experience in the world and in writing is unique. After graduating from high school in Sarasota
Florida, I entered the United States Air Force and became an intelligence operations specialist with Air Force Special Operations. Following six years in the Air Force I attended college at Weber State University in Utah, earning an undergraduate degree in criminal justice and psychology and completed an internship with the Secret Service. After graduation from Weber State, I accepted a commission in the United States Coast Guard and became the Law Enforcement and Intelligence supervisor at Coast Guard Group Mayport, Florida, where I oversaw waterside security operations for Space Shuttle launches, and led Coast Guard law enforcement operations.
Following the attacks of 9/11, the Coast Guard transferred me from Washington, DC to Alameda, California, where I was the first Chief of the Coast Guard’s newly created Maritime Intelligence Center Pacific (MIFC PAC). After six years at MIFC PAC, I took my final Coast Guard assignment to Los Angeles-Long Beach, where I was Chief of Law Enforcement and Senior Coast Guard Intelligence Officer in the Los Angeles area.
My interests are varied, and while serving in the Coast Guard I earned a Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from Marymount University, Arlington, Virginia. I have clinical experience in counseling and psychotherapy, and have worked with both adults and children with various psychological problems, including anxiety, depression, and autism spectrum disorders.
